Feast Day!

Today is a special day to me and my mom – it’s our Baptismal saint’s feast day! We share the middle name Louise, named after St. Louise de Marillac, the Foundress of the Sisters of Charity (not to be confused with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity). She was raised in wealth, but always had a heart for the poor from childhood. After her husband’s early death, she joined a religious order, and under the direction of St. Vincent de Paul, she founded the Daughters of Charity, whose work was primarily in hospitals and with the poor and infirm on the streets in France.

She is the patron saint of widows, social workers, and the sick.

St. Louise de Marillac, pray for us!

About Mary's Ghillie

Why Mary's? Because she is the best example of how to live a life worthy of Christ. Why Ghillie? It's an old Celtic word for servant. I'm Mary's Ghillie!
